Sergeant Jamie Chatman is a lifelong Cherokee County resident whose law-enforcement career reflects a broad foundation of service, leadership, and specialized investigative work. He is a Snead State graduate with a degree in Civil Engineering, and a graduate of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Academy, Session 22.

He has served as both a Criminal Investigator and Narcotics Investigator for the Town of Leesburg, later being appointed Police Chief for the Town of Leesburg — where he also earned a Life Saving Award.

Sergeant Chatman is a certified K-9 Handler through Alabama K-9, a SWAT School graduate, and an NRA Firearms Instructor. He has served as a Criminal and Narcotics Investigator with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, and has completed extensive investigative coursework through Jacksonville State University’s Center for Applied Forensics.

His career combines advanced training, hands-on investigative experience, and a continued commitment to protecting and serving the community he has called home his entire life.
